Career Exploration Camps Welding and STEM Export

Join SIC Community Education for Career Exploration Camps 2019!
Middle school students will have the opportunity to begin exploring the various career options available in the world this summer. Career Exploration Camps will be held July 29 through Aug. 1.
Students can choose between classes involving Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), Welding and Diesel Technology. Each class will be taught by SIC instructors and members of the various student clubs on campus.
The STEM class will be taught by Jason Fitzgerald, Aaron Poole and the SIC Math and Science Club. Students will gain hands-on experience and knowledge in the fields of microbiology, chemistry, biotechnology and physics. STEM camp will be held daily from 9 a.m.- noon.
The Welding class will be taught by Mark Thomas and the SIC Welding Club. Students in this class will learn welding safety, work on welding techniques and will create a project. Welding camp will be held daily from 9 a.m.- noon.
The Diesel Technology class will be taught by Chris Jones and the SIC Diesel Club. Students in this class will receive hands-on experience with basic mechanical skills and techniques. The class will also offer a base knowledge of the theory of internal combustion engines as well as how to assemble working engines. Diesel Technology camp will be held daily from 12:30-3:30 p.m.
The cost is $60 per student, per camp. If students attend more than one camp, lunch will be provided.
