Joining a student club or organization at Southeastern adds zest to your college experience. The wide variety of organizations and activities enables you to broaden the college experience - whether those experiences be in the academic, service or recreational realm. The activities of some groups are directed to enrich your educational experiences by taking classroom studies to the real world and making contact with professionals in your field of interest. Other groups provide you the opportunity to serve yourself, serve the college, and serve the community. And, some activities are geared toward just having fun. Join a club or organization and make new friends who share the same interests.

The Art Club promotes the visual arts on campus and in the community. Students do not have to be enrolled in art courses and membership is open to any student with an interest in the visual arts. Activities include participation in seminars and special events, gallery and museum visits, organizing events and workshops, and community service. Sponsor: Brent Webb |
Brothers And Sisters In Christ is a religious organization affiliated with BCM/BASIC Campus Student Groups all over the United States in response to providing Christian fellowship and growth for college students. Campus Democrats is an organization affiliated with the Illinois Federation of College Democrats and the College Democrats of America, a student arm of the Democratic National Committee. Campus Democrats works to foster democratic ideals on campus and in the community, increase political awareness and activism and foster greater voter participation among college students. Campus Republicans: The Young Republicans Club was founded in 1969. Membership in Southeastern Illinois College Republican Club (SICRC) is open to any student interested in the future of the Republican Party and willing to contribute a portion of time when called upon to do so. Community Chorus has been rehearsing and performing for more than 25 years. Chorus membership consists of college students and community members who meet once a week. The chorus presents a public performance near the end of each semester and sings at different places in the college district on different occasions. No audition is necessary to join since those who love to sing are always welcome. More recent additions to the musical family include Gospel Choir and Jazz Choir. Students and community members are invited to join one, two, or all three choirs as their time and interests allow. Sponsor: Kurt Miyashiro |
The Cosmetology Club participates in activities and special events including hair shows, conferences, and other professional development activities. Membership is open to students enrolled in the Cosmetology program. Sponsors: Wendy Harris |
The Diesel Technology Club was established to provide extra-curricular activities (related to diesel/auto mechanics) for those enrolled in diesel technology. The club is a sound organization of student diesel technicians coming together as a working team to establish career oriented goals and quality work while learning from each other through leadership and respect to become life long learners. The club sponsors several fund raising activities. Members also participate in special events and annual field trips. Sponsor: Ralph Boots |
Early Childhood Education Club is a chapter of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and local affiliate of the Southern Illinois Association for the Education of Young Children (SIAEYC). This club is open to anyone going into the field of education.

Intramural Athletics is a source of recreation for students, employees, and community residents. Athletic competition plays a vital part in the health and well-being of students and in the college social life. Tournament-style competition is organized by the Athletic Director while student-employee activities are organized by the Professional Planning Development Committee and the Student Government. Activities have included softball, volleyball, basketball, flag football, bowling, dodgeball, and video game tournaments. Sponsor: To be announced |
The Math & Science Club, sponsored by the Math and Science Division, is designed to promote and develop sound scholarship, enjoyment of mathematics and the sciences and social camaraderie. Membership is open to math, science, engineering, and pre-professional majors and to others genuinely interested in mathematics or science. Club members participate in community service activities, social and fundraising events and educational field trips each semester. While the Math and Science Club is not an honor society, members are expected to demonstrate academic integrity and maintain a good academic standing in their coursework. Newman Catholic Student Club (NCSC) offers individuals an opportunity to particpate in friendship, spiritual growth, and community. Sponsor: Brian Surprenant |
The Nursing Club, sponsored by the Division of Nursing and Allied Health, is open to all nursing students. Students learn how to be professionally and socially active in the community. Members participate in a variety of community service and fundraising activities. The club's mission is to promote/expand visibility and growth of the nursing profession, as well as to promote high personal standards among nursing students. Phi Beta Lambda is a national business student organization for students preparing for careers in business, industry, and business education. The Delta Upsilon Chapter at Southeastern is affiliated with the Illinois State and National Phi Beta Lambda. Highlights of the year include numerous projects, community and school activities, and the state and national Phi Beta Lambda convention. Sponsor: Karen Keasler |
Phi Theta Kappa, the community college equivalent of Phi Beta Kappa, is the national honorary scholastic fraternity for community colleges. Mu Psi is the Southeastern Chapter. Academic excellence is the primary hallmark of Phi Theta Kappa. Membership is extended by invitation only and students must meet several enrollment and grade requirements. Sponsor: Kellye Whitler |
The Psychology / Human Services Club serves to promote interest in Psychology and the broader Human Services field outside the classroom, as well as increasing students’ awareness of career opportunities within these fields. Involvement within the community through service and other activities provides students with leadership and growth opportunities while promoting community awareness of the college. Student Ambassadors act as liaisons between the college, the community, and prospective and current students. Ten Student Ambassador Scholarships are allocated yearly, with the objective of awarding at least one from each high school in the college district. Ambassadors give campus tours, help host a variety of on-campus events and participate in numerous community events. Sponsor: Kellye Whitler |
The Southeastern Illinois College Student Government (SICSG) is the only recognized representative body for the student community, and it has a number of different functions – from helping fund many student-run organizations to addressing student issues and concerns, to proposing resolutions that brings about change in the academic and social life of our campus. The student body elects members of the Student Government. Students interested in serving must complete a petition with one faulty and 25 student signatures. Theta Sigma Phi welcomes students to participate in theater productions regardless of major. While acting or working in shows, students earn "points" that make them eligible to join the Theta Sigma Phi Cast of Delta Psi Omega. The fraternity's purpose is to prepare students for participation in theater activities as well as expand their theater knowledge, for instance, by taking field trips to see professional productions. Students also have the opportunity to participate on one of Southeastern's competitive teams. These include academic teams - Forensic Falcons, Model Illinois Government, Phi Beta Lambda, Students in Free Enterprise - and athletic teams - Baseball, Men's Basketball, Shooting Team, Softball, Women's Basketball.
