Scholarships Available to Children of SIC Alumni and Friends – Deadline March 31
The Southeastern Illinois College Alumni & Friends Association supports a scholarship program open to children/legal wards of current members of the Southeastern Illinois College Alumni and Friends Association. The Association is now accepting applications to make awards for the 2014-2015 academic year.
Single membership in the Alumni & Friends Association is $30, while a family membership is $50. “One hundred percent of all membership fees goes towards awarding scholarships to graduating seniors from high schools located within the college district,” said Barbara Morgan, board member of the association. She added that “one student from each high school in SIC’s district will be selected to receive a scholarship based upon the applicant’s information.”
Membership dues should be made payable to SIC Alumni & Friends Association and mailed to Southeastern Illinois College, Attn: Sky Fowler, 3575 College Road, Harrisburg, Illinois 62946 postmarked no later than March 31, 2014.
Likewise, scholarship applications, complete with all supporting documents, must be postmarked by March 31 in order to be considered for the 2014-15 academic year. Successful applicants will be notified by April 10. Individuals may access the scholarship application by going to www.sic.edu/afscholarship or by contacting Sky Fowler at 618-252-5400, ext. 2482 or sky.fowler@sic.edu.
Awards will be based on the following criteria: 1. receipt of application and all supporting documents by the postmarked deadline, 2. applicant must be planning to attend SIC for the 2014 fall semester, and 3. parent/guardian must be an SIC Alumni & Friends Association member in good standing (membership dues paid in full).
In addition, consideration will be given to the applicant’s academic achievement (OGPA, ACT/SAT score, and high school transcript), extra-curricular activities, community service, honors, and work experience. The scholarship is good for the 2014-15 school year only.
