Requirements
All candidates for these positions must meet the eligibility requirements listed below and submit the Petition.  

  • You must have/maintain a 3.0 GPA to run for office
  • You must provide a picture of yourself
  • You must provide a brief biography that is no longer then one page typed
  • You must adhere to the rules and regulations regarding campaigning at SIC.  These are stated below.
  • You must adhere to the By-Laws which are found in the SICSG Constitution (Article VI); however, they are stated below for your convenience.

Campaigning at SIC: 

  • Campaign information is limited to a general one page or less biography to be distributed through campus email and turned in to Mr. Lees.  We will not be distributing literature, posters, or other campaign materials in person or on campus.
  • Due to COVID constraints, no in-person or face-to-face campaigning allowed this semester.

Article VI. By-Laws

Section I.

All students running for a position within the Southeastern Illinois College Student Government must be in good standing with the College.  Students seeking Office must adhere to all “Standards of Conduct”, which are printed in the Student Handbook.  Neglect of these standards will result in review by the incumbent Student Senate.  Upon review, action will be taken which can ultimately result in the removal of a candidate from the election.

Section II.

Any candidate running for a position within the Southeastern Illinois College Student Government must adhere to all campaign rules and regulations.  Failure to yield to the rules and regulations is grounds for disqualification.  Any candidate in violation of the rules and regulations will be given one (1) warning.  A candidate with more than one documented warning will be reprimanded up to and including disqualification from the election.  A candidate is allowed to appeal his/her disqualification.  The incumbent Student Senate as well as the Advisors of the Student Senate will review any appeals.
