Forty Counties in the Region

This map depicts the general four-state area and the counties where the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers converge, with the Wabash River also being a significant area for southern Illinois. These counties share similar heritage in “Little Egypt” as well as a rural culture similar to the one around Saline County. Forty (40) counties make up the suggested region. The following counties outlined are what is considered “regional”. Some “border” counties to these may be included for consideration as long as all other criteria are met.
