Educational Technology Specialist

Description

Daytime schedule, with some occasional night and/or weekend responsibilities. Flexibility is needed to meet the needs of the department.  Travel is required with occasional overnight stays.  The  Educational  Technology  Specialist  assists  the  faculty  in  the  design,  development,  and improvement of online instruction.  In addition, the Educational Technology Specialist trains and supports the faculty in the effective use of instructional technology to improve teaching and learning.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.   Lead, train, and assist faculty in development of quality online and hybrid courses through the effective use of instructional design and pedagogy.  
2.   Develop and deliver faculty/staff training workshops/sessions to support educational technology activities.
3.   Assist the Distance Learning Specialist with administrative functions of the learning management system.
4.   Assist faculty and staff with instructional materials development.
5.   Support, train, and assist faculty in the Teaching and Learning Center.
6.   Provide training to faculty in the use of the learning management system, media/computer equipment and software.
7.   Maintain Southeastern’s information on the Illinois Virtual Campus website and additional websites as needed.
8.   Provide technical support and orientation for online students.

Qualifications

Reasonable  accommodations  may  be  made  to  enable  individuals  with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Mastery of subject matter, terminology, techniques, equipment and materials used in computer-aided instruction and other educational technologies.  Extensive knowledge and experience in educational technology applications and proficiency in its incorporation into the classroom.  Current in the field of instructional design, and new and emerging technologies.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in educational technology or related field with a minimum of two years of  experience in the field preferred.
