Nursing Retention Specialist

Description

This is a 12-month, full-time grant-funded position working 37.5 hours per week and requires the availability to work Monday – Friday, hours flexible according to students’ needs. The position may require occasional weekend hours to meet the needs of the College. This grant-funded position works directly with professional staff members and faculty to support PN and ADN student academic performance and will focus on assisting students with academic achievement, refinement of nursing skills, tutoring, remediation, and overall student support.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist and support students with hands-on lab skills, including case studies and scenarios emphasizing clinical judgment and Next-Generation NCLEX-style questions.
  • Provide tutoring in areas of identified need, including mandatory remediation.
  • Assist students in identifying and utilizing resources that may contribute to their success.
  • Provide lab assistance/instruction to include:
    • Demonstrate course-related nursing skills,
    • Evaluate student performance of skills,
    • Participate in simulation activities as determined by the instructor.
  • Participate in the promotion and student recruitment for the College’s Nursing and Allied Health programs.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required. A current unencumbered IL RN license and a current AHA healthcare provider CPR certification are required. Prior teaching experience, including teaching in an online environment, is preferred.
