Constitution Week Proclaimed Throughout the Southeastern Illinois College District

Southeastern Illinois College President, Dr. Jonah Rice signs a proclamation designating September 17 – September 23, 2013 throughout the college district as the two hundred twenty-sixth anniversary of the drafting of the Constitution of the United States of America by the Constitutional Convention.
Witnessing the signing are members of the Michael Hillegas Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Sitting (L-R) are Christy Short, Dr. Rice and Sharon Pyle, Vice Regent. Standing are June Vangampler, Constitution Week Chairman; Sharon L. Tanner, Regent; and Hazel Duncan, Registrar.
Additionally, SIC recognizes Constitution Week with a special exhibit that can be viewed in AB lobby. Constitution Week poster, exhibits and a copy of the proclamation are also on display at the Harrisburg District Library, Shawneetown Library, and the Eldorado Memorial Library, as well as on the marquee at Sutton Plumbing. Pictured on the 2013 Constitution week poster are the following men: Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, and James Madison. All were instrumental in the creation and adoption of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787.
