SIC’s Forensic Falcons Are 2014 Regional Champs

Southeastern Illinois College Forensic Falcons bested its regional competitors March 21-22 to win the Phi Rho Pi Regional Four Championship Speech Tournament in Chicago Heights.
The Falcons captured the gold medal in team sweepstakes after every member of the team medaled by advancing to the final round of competition. The team also earned 14 individual gold medals, 11 silver medals, and four bronze medals.
“The regional tournament gives us one final opportunity to test our material before the national tournament,” noted Coach Tyler Billman. “For this reason, it’s an important part of our schedule.”
The Forensic Falcons will host Night Before Nationals, an evening of speech performances, on April 3 at 7:30 p.m in SIC’s VPAC lobby. Tickets are a $5 suggested donation for students and community members. The team will travel to the Phi Rho Pi National Tournament in Denver, Colorado, April 7-12.

Corrine McDaniel, Harrisburg – Gold in individual sweepstakes, gold in informative speaking, gold in persuasive speaking, and silver in communication analysis.
Zachary Hanks, Harrisburg – Gold in individual sweepstakes, gold in duo interpretation (with partner Hannah Rudin), gold in open poetry interpretation, and silver in dramatic interpretation.
Hannah Rudin, St. Louis – Gold in individual sweepstakes, gold in dramatic interpretation, gold in duo interpretation (with partner Zachary Hanks), and silver in poetry interpretation.
Nicole York, Omaha – Gold in impromptu speaking, silver in individual sweepstakes, silver in extemporaneous speaking, and silver in communication analysis.
Jeremiah Brown, Harrisburg –Gold in communication analysis, gold in persuasive speaking, and bronze in prose interpretation.
Tre Ingram, Harrisburg – Gold in program oral interpretation, silver in duo interpretation (with partner Sarah Birkla), and bronze in prose interpretation.
Dylan Comer, Carrier Mills – Gold in duo interpretation (with partner Meredith Wolf), bronze in dramatic interpretation, and bronze in poetry interpretation.
Meredith Wolf, Harrisburg – Gold in duo interpretation (with partner Dylan Comer) and silver in dramatic interpretation.
Benjamin McGuire, Eldorado – Gold in extemporaneous speaking and silver in impromptu speaking.
Sarah Birkla, Norris City – Silver in duo interpretation (with partner Tre Ingram), silver in program oral interpretation.
Hannah Rodgers, Harrisburg – Silver in persuasive speaking.
