SIC Night at Ponderosa to Feature SIC Coaches as “Celebrity” Wait Staff
Southeastern Illinois College coaches will be “celebrity wait staff” serving food and drinks at Ponderosa in Harrisburg on Thursday, Oct. 2 from 5-7 p.m., to benefit the American Heart Association (AHA). The softball team is competing against both the men’s and women’s basketball teams, a David and Goliath competition, to see who can raise the most money to donate.
SIC’s head softball coach, Donn Gines and Melissa Hunt, assistant softball coach will be serving from 5-6 p.m. From 6-7 p.m. head men’s basketball coach, Josh Ervin, head women’s basketball coach, Jack Trosper and Markell Cox, assistant women’s basketball coach will be serving.
The team (or teams) who loses the competition will have to kiss a pig at the first home basketball game of the season.
Ten percent of proceeds and all tips made at Ponderosa from 5-7 p.m. will go to the AHA, courtesy of The Beat Goes On team at SIC. This activity, along with many other fundraising activities for a variety of teams at SIC continue to take place for the AHA Heartwalk, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 4 at John A. Logan College. This is the third annual partnership with Ponderosa benefiting the AHA.
