Chuck Hearn to be Honored with Naming of SIC Outdoor Complex
Southeastern Illinois College will be holding a naming dedication ceremony in honor of longtime Board Trustee, Charles “Chuck” Hearn.
The Chuck Hearn Outdoor Educational Complex will be dedicated on Monday, June 22 at 3 p.m. and all family, friends and the community are welcome to attend.
The ceremony will begin in room G120 of the Robert I. Gregg Center, then moving afterward to the outdoor complex itself, located just east of the Robert I. Gregg Center, for a ribbon cutting. Vans will provide travel to and from the outdoor area, or attendees may also provide their own transportation. There will be a reception following the ceremony.
The outdoor educational complex contains training areas for programs including fire science, firearms, archery, coal mining, among other related educational offerings.
Hearn passed away Friday, Nov. 28, 2014 at the age of 66. He was a member of the SIC Board of Trustees for 28 years, and was known for being an avid outdoorsman and supporter of academics. He helped guide SIC through many events including multiple successful reaccreditation visits, curriculum developments and construction projects.
