Under the Big Top at SIC a Hit

Fun was had by all who attended Under the Big Top at Southeastern Illinois College on Saturday, April 23 in conjunction with SIC theatre’s production of Barnum: The Musical.
Over 100 people attended the event, which included entertainment by magician Chris Egelston, a petting zoo by Joe Phillips, balloon animals, face painting, games and prizes as well as cotton candy, popcorn and many other tasty treats. Several volunteers even came dressed as clowns lending even more of a circus feel to the event.
Numerous clubs, sponsors and volunteers were involved with the success of Under the Big Top including, Art, Circle K, Cosmetology, Math and Science, Nursing, Phi Beta Lambda (business club), Student Ambassadors, Student Activities, Student Government, Theta Sigma Phi (theatre club), SIC Auxiliary Services and SIC Environmental services. Carrier Mills United Methodist Church allowed SIC to use their cotton candy machine, McKinley Avenue Baptist Church provided the elephant game, and Legence Bank donated the popcorn.
“I was excited to see our SIC students enjoy making this a fun day for the children,” said Angie Wilson, marketing coordinator and event co-coordinator. “The magician did a great job of getting the kids involved in the show, and Joe Philips brought out some adorable baby animals that the kids just loved! He even brought out a tiny pony for the kids sit on, which was such a great addition.”
