WISBDC assists Tailgater’s Bar & Grille

This past summer, Tom and Katie Martin of Eldorado had a dream of turning the former American Legion in Eldorado into a restaurant and gathering place for locals. With the help of the Workforce & Illinois Small Business Development Center (WISBDC) at Southeastern Illinois College and many hours of hard work, their idea for Tailgater’s Bar and Grille took shape.
After putting together the business plan, financials and all the needed licenses, the Martins were able to remodel the existing building and former business into the atmosphere they had visualized. Since their opening in August, the business has been a success and continues to grow each and every week.
“The resources and the help the Small Business Development Center is second to none,” said Katie Martin. “We couldn’t have opened as soon as we did without their help in making a business plan for us. They spoke with the bank and answered every question that we had.”
Britt Pavelonis, small business specialist with the WISBDC said that he was pleased to work with the Martins.
“We are happy that we could do what was needed to get Tailgater’s up and running a successful business,” said Pavelonis. “Please go check them out and support local business. You won’t be disappointed.”
Tailgater’s Bar and Grille is located at 1201 Locust Street in Eldorado. For more information or to order call 618-273-2100.
