High School Students Earn OSHA 10 Certification through SIC Industrial Maintenance Program

Eight Carmi-White County High School students recently earned their OSHA 10 certifications through Southeastern Illinois College’s Dual Credit Industrial Maintenance program at the Stanford D. Williams Career and Technical Education Center in Carmi.
The OSHA 10 certification, issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), provides essential training on workplace safety and health standards. This nationally recognized credential equips students with a solid understanding of occupational safety, hazard recognition, and risk prevention — valuable skills for today’s industrial and technical work environments.
“These students have worked hard and now hold a credential that will benefit them in future jobs and internships,” said Griffin Hart, SIC instructor. “It’s a great accomplishment for these first-year students, and I’m proud of their dedication to learning important safety skills.”
By completing this certification while still in high school, students not only strengthen their resumes but also increase their employability, making them more competitive candidates for internships, apprenticeships, and entry-level positions in the skilled trades.
Students earning their OSHA 10 certification include: Colt Winter, Wyatt Wells, Josyah Perez, Hayden Knight, Nick Neal, Parker Burnett, Gavin Holloman, and Travor Mason.
