Beane Earns SIU Provost Scholarship

Southeastern Illinois College student Kassidy Beane of Eddyville has been named a recipient of the Southern Illinois University Carbondale Provost Scholarship, one of the university’s most prestigious academic awards for transfer students.
Beane, a pre-med student and valedictorian of Pope County High School, balances a rigorous academic schedule with work as a phlebotomist and volunteer service as a “Chemo Buddy” at Ferrell Hospital. She is also actively involved at SIC in student government, Circle K, Phi Theta Kappa, and the Math and Science Club.
She plans to attend SIU Carbondale this fall to major in physiology before continuing on to medical school.
The SIU Provost Scholarship covers full tuition for two years and is awarded to high-achieving community college transfer students. Recipients are selected based on academic excellence, leadership, and service.
“We are incredibly proud of Kassidy and all she’s accomplished during her time at Southeastern,” said SIC President Dr. Karen Weiss. “She exemplifies the commitment and determination it takes to succeed in the healthcare field, and we look forward to seeing her future unfold.”
