SIC Hise Museum announces call for entries for veteran art exhibition
The Ella Elizabeth Hise Museum of Regional Art at Southeastern Illinois College has announced a call for entries for its upcoming “Living the Dream: Veteran Art Exhibition.”
The exhibit will highlight the work of veteran artists with connections to the region and will run from July 3 through September 11, 2026.
The exhibition is planned in recognition of two significant milestones: the 250th anniversary of the United States and the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. Organizers say the exhibit will serve as a tribute to the service and sacrifice of military members and their families.
Veteran artists may submit up to three original works in a variety of mediums and subject matters. The submission deadline is June 1, 2026.
AI-generated artwork will not be accepted. Artists are also asked to include the size or dimensions of each submitted piece.
“Without the service and sacrifice of our military members and their families, our country would not exist,” said Lonnie Mann, Museum Coordinator. “This exhibition is an opportunity to honor those contributions while also showcasing the creativity and perspectives of veteran artists in our region.”
Submissions may be completed online at www.sic.edu/hise-submissions or emailed to hisemuseum@sic.edu with “Veteran Art Exhibition” in the subject line. Printable submission forms are also available on the museum’s website or by contacting the museum directly.
The exhibit will open July 3, aligning with Independence Day celebrations, and will conclude with a closing reception at 6 p.m. on September 11. The reception will include light refreshments and the announcement of the Best in Show award, which will be presented at approximately 7 p.m. The selected artist will be offered the opportunity to present a solo exhibition at the museum the following year.
