SIC White County Extension Center
Southeastern Illinois College is proud to serve White County through the SIC White County Extension Center, which includes the David L. Stanley White County Center and the Stanford D. Williams Career and Training Center. Together, these facilities provide academic courses, hands-on career training, and essential community services for students, businesses, and local residents.

David L. Stanley White County Center
The David L. Stanley White County Center serves as a hub for classrooms, student services, and community access.

Information Desk – First stop for guidance on classes, services, and resources

General Education & Vocational Courses – Transfer and workforce-related classes

Computer Lab – Open to the public when not in use for college courses

Illinois WorkNet Center – Employment and training services through IDES and Southern 14 WIOA partner

Illinois Secretary of State DMV Services – Convenient driver services on site

Customized Training & CPR – Available for local businesses and agencies
Stanford D. Williams Career and Training Center
The Stanford D. Williams Career and Training Center is dedicated to career and technical education with real-world labs and training spaces. Programs and training available include:

Welding – Shop space for workforce and student training

Auto/Diesel Technology – Fully equipped work area for automotive and diesel programs

Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Training – Diesel truck bay and CDL preparation

Industrial Maintenance Certificate – Introductory welding, small engine repair, PLC, and OSHA training, available to high school and adult learners in as little as 9 months

Industrial Arts Certificate – Courses in plumbing, electrical, drafting, and carpentry, designed to prepare a skilled, hands-on workforce (launched Fall 2024)

Career Academy – Dual credit CTE program for Carmi-White County and NCOE high school students, offered at no cost and with no testing requirements
Students can enroll through traditional SIC coursework, high school dual credit, or adult workforce training in partnership with local industry.
Community Support
The Stanford D. Williams Career and Training Center was made possible through the generosity of many community partners. Major supporters include Stanford D. Williams, The Absher Charitable Foundation, Campbell Resources, Elastec, Roark Trucking, Martin & Bayley’s CWD Transport, Vibracoustic, the White County Board, and Geo. N. Mitchell Drilling Co., Inc. with Chris and Barb Mitchell and family.
These donors, recognized on permanent signage at the Center, played a vital role in making the facility a reality and ensuring expanded workforce training opportunities for White County.
