Forensic Falcons compete nationally in public speaking, oral interpretation, and reader’s theater. Although high school forensic experience helps, SIC coaches work closely with novice competitors.

About the Forensic Falcons Speech Team:

The team consistently places in the top 10 at Phi Rho Pi (the national community college speech championship). The Forensic Falcons won the national title in 1986, 2005, and 2021. They placed second in 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008, and 2019. Third place finishes include 1987, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1994, 1995, 2001, 2010, 2014, and 2015. The Falcons placed fourth in 2006, 2012, 2013, and 2017.

  • SIC competed in its first international tournament in 2021 and won, besting top-tier universities like Yale and Vanderbilt.
  • SIC has finished in the top 5 nationally for nearly 40 years.
  • SIC has never been beaten by an Illinois Community College at national competition for 20+ years.
  • SIC regularly defeats senior institutions at university tournaments.
  • SIC was ranked a top 50 program nationally from BOTH two-year and four-year programs.
