About SIC
Southeastern Illinois College in Harrisburg, Illinois, with an extension center in Carmi, Illinois, was founded in 1960 and serves more than 49,000 district residents in the counties of Gallatin, Hardin, Pope, and Saline, as well as portions of Hamilton, Johnson, Williamson, and White. The college offers more than 50 certificate and degree programs, as well as specialized training in a multitude of Career and Technical Education areas, including Cosmetology, Criminal Justice, Diesel Technology, Information Technology, Nursing, Outdoor Recreation, Outdoor Wildlife Management, Pharmacy Tech, Phlebotomy, PowerSports Technology, Veterinary Assistant, and Welding Technology.
Additionally, Southeastern provides opportunities to keep students connected with various sports, competitive teams, performance opportunities, clubs, and organizations. Talent scholarships are available each year, allowing students to reach their educational goals while continuing to enjoy a sport or activity they love.
SIC maintains affordability with some of the lowest tuition rates in the state at $106 per credit hour. With a student-to-instructor ratio of 17:1, SIC offers small class sizes and innovative labs led by caring, highly qualified faculty for more hands-on learning and engaging discussion to inspire students. Southeastern provides students the tools they need to succeed as the area’s leader in online classes, successful high school dual credit programs, accelerated courses, the Accelerated College Experience program, and CTE Afternoon Academy for high school students. Tutoring, TRIO Student Support Services, career counseling, veteran services, and mental health counseling are free services available to students.
With approximately 4,100 full or part-time students throughout the course of a year and nearly 150 full or part-time employees, SIC is a top employer for the area and is committed to the economic growth of the communities it serves. Through community education offerings to all ages, cultural events, and commitment to workforce and small business development, SIC endeavors to fulfill its mission to promote quality, accessible, and accountable learning that is responsive to student and community needs.
