Math, Science, & Technology
Whether their interest lies with the biological sciences, physical sciences, economics, mathematics, technology or engineering, Southeastern Illinois College will provide STEM majors with the first two years of their education with all of the rigor and quality of a top-ranked university program at a fraction of the price. Because of the small class sizes students receive instruction on a more personal level and have the opportunity to get to know their instructors; many of the faculty in the division of mathematics, science and technology become mentors to their students and serve as invaluable resources throughout their entire academic journey, and beyond. More information about specific programs, including curriculum guides and course descriptions, can be found by clicking on the links on the left side of this webpage.
In addition to baccalaureate associate degree programs, the Division of Mathematics, Science and Technology is also home to the CTE degree and certificate programs for Information Technology.
The division also houses courses in Microeconomics and Microeconomics for those students who need them.
The division hosts an annual STEM day to showcase the opportunities in math, science and technology that students will have while enrolled at SIC. The division also hosts an annual regional Academic Challenge in which district high school students compete in areas of mathematics, science, technology, and engineering. The division of mathematics, science and technology is also home to the Math & Science club of which students can become members to carry their enjoyment of math and science outside of the classroom.
While it is not required to be a STEM major to participate, the SIC competitive collegiate esports team is housed within the Division of Mathematics, Science, and Technology. More information about the team can be found on the Falcons FoG page.
The faculty of the Division of Mathematics, Science and Technology invite and encourage prospective students to visit campus and to sit in on one of their lectures. Click here to contact the appropriate instructor(s) to schedule a visit.
