The Agriculture industry can be very profitable and has a global impact. Agriculture has many real-life applications and career prospects in southern Illinois and beyond. At Southeastern Illinois College, you can choose from various Agriculture majors: Agricultural Business, Agricultural Education, and Agricultural Science.
Ag Business:
The Ag Business curriculum will focus on the economic aspects of agriculture, preparing students for careers in farm management, agricultural finance, marketing and agricultural policy. This program will prepare students to transfer to a university and will emphasize the intersection of business principles with the unique challenges and opportunities within the agricultural sector.
Ag Education:
The Ag Education program will equip students with the knowledge and skills to become effective educators in agricultural settings, such as high schools, vocational schools, extension programs or agricultural outreach organizations. This program will prepare students to transfer to a university to obtain a teaching licensure in agricultural education, enabling them to educate and inspire future generations.
Ag Science:
The Ag Science program will provide students with an understanding of the scientific principles underlying modern agricultural practices. Students will engage in lab work and gain practical experience in applying scientific concepts to real-world agricultural challenges. This program will prepare students to transfer to a university to study paths in agronomy, livestock production, agricultural research, environmental conservation and more.
Through collaboration with Rend Lake College (Ina, IL), students will have access to a diverse range of resources, instruction and partnerships to support their academic and professional development in the area of Agriculture.
