The Southeastern Illinois College (SIC) website privacy statement applies to the College’s primary domain name sic.edu, all its sub domains, and any other website owned and operated by the college. Each of these collectively is referred to as the SIC Website. SIC strives to protect user’s privacy to the fullest extent allowed by law and meet the college's mission. SIC will make efforts to ensure that changes to this privacy statement are reflected on the SIC home page. However, the failure of SIC to post changes to this privacy statement shall not prevent any changes to it from becoming effective in any instance, whether retroactively or prospectively.

SIC collects data from users to help fulfill the mission of the College. MySIC (Online Student Information System)

All transactions through MySIC are encrypted. Additionally, when making online payments through MySIC, credit card and bank information is not stored on servers operated by SIC.

SIC is not responsible for website content, security, or protection of personal information on links found on the SIC Website to outside agencies or entities.

Email

SIC is not responsible for the privacy of any email messages. Users are advised that most email sent over the Internet is insecure and that, as a result, users should assume that email communications are not private.

Log Files

The SIC website tracks generic network information to monitor trends in traffic and for security purposes. Information tracked includes but is not limited to:

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

Information about FERPA may be found on the US Department of Education Website at http://www.ed.gov/policy/gen/guid/fpco/ferpa/index.html. SIC makes every attempt to fully comply with FERPA and does not release student information without the permission of the student except where allowed by law.

Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)

To comply with COPPA, children under the age of 13 should not submit any information to SIC without parental consent.
