TRIO/SSS Advisor (Part-Time)

Description

Southeastern Illinois College is seeking a dedicated and student-focused part-time TRIO/SSS Advisor to support the federally funded TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Grant. This position is 28 hours per week and reports directly to the TRIO/SSS Director.

The TRIO/SSS Advisor will play a key role in guiding and mentoring participants, assisting them in achieving their educational, career, and personal goals (PIP). The Advisor will also help coordinate workshops, activities, and services that promote student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the identification and selection of program participants.
  • Advise and mentor a caseload of participants, helping them develop and pursue academic, career, and personal goals.
  • Assess participant needs and connect them with appropriate resources.
  • Coordinate and lead workshops focused on transfer assistance, career exploration, and goal setting.
  • Assist the TRIO/SSS Director with cultural enrichment activities and project evaluation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Two years of experience in academic advising or counseling required; experience in a community college setting preferred.
  • Experience in post-secondary academic advisement and assessment required.
  • Strong ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving disadvantaged student populations required.
  • A background similar to that of SSS-eligible students (first-generation, low-income, or students with disabilities) preferred.

Salary

$15/hour
