Scholarship Opportunities Abound at SIC
Deadline for application is February 28!
As a new semester dawns, both current high school seniors and college freshmen planning to attend Southeastern Illinois College for the Fall 2014 semester already have an assignment: complete scholarship applications by Feb. 28 to compete for more than half a million dollars in aid.
Southeastern awards more than $600,000 annually in academic, talent, and athletic scholarships to help students achieve their educational goals. Southeastern offers many scholarships on behalf of generous donors from the college district as a way to encourage students in their academic endeavors.
Several scholarships are categorized by division – including Applied Technology; Social Science, Business, and Education; and Nursing and Allied Health. Performance scholarships are also available, in areas including Art, Forensics (speech), Music, Theater, and Student Ambassador. All scholarships require applicants to complete the application, as well as an essay, and provide an official high school or current college transcript. Additional information, such as portfolio or other documentation may be requested for performance scholarships
The scholarships noted above can be applied for using a single application. The lone exception is the SIC Alumni and Friends Association scholarship, which has a separate application form.
“These scholarships provide needed support for SIC students, and the College encourages students to apply as soon as possible,” said Dr. Dana Keating, SIC’s Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs. “The College and its donors understand how important these dollars can be in assisting students, and are committed to providing this opportunity.”
All scholarship forms – including both printable and online applications – are available on the SIC website at www.sic.edu/scholarships. For additional information, contact the Financial Aid office at 618-252-5400 ext. 4110 or fao@sic.edu.
