Child Abuse Prevention Forum at SIC April 8
In honor of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, the Southeastern Illinois College Criminal Justice department is sponsoring an educational forum on April 8 from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. “Giving Them a Voice: What You Can Do to Help Victims of Child Abuse” will feature breakout sessions, a panel discussion and informational tables where those in attendance will learn about topics ranging from child abuse signs and symptoms to what information is necessary for successful prosecution of child abuse cases.
Representatives from the Saline County State’s Attorney’s Office, Illinois State Police, Department of Children and Family Services, The Guardian Center, The Carmi Baptist Children’s Home, CASA of Saline County and the Egyptian Health Center will be on hand to share practical information on what each of us can do to help prevent child abuse and give victims a “voice”.
The forum will be held in the William I. Gregg Technology Center in the G120 Conference Room. The event is free and open to the public. RSVP by contacting Brent Maguire at (618) 252-5400 ext. 2329 or brent.maguire@sic.edu by April 4.
