Forensic Falcons Win Parkland Invitational
Southeastern Illinois College’s Forensic Falcons speech team placed first at the Parkland College Invitational Tournament on Feb. 3 in Champaign, Illinois. SIC earned five individual championships in addition to the team trophy.
“We appreciate the team’s hard work in preparing for the tournament,” noted coach Jenny Billman. “We always enjoy opportunities to showcase our students’ hard work and talent.”
The team completes its regular season in two weeks at the Harper Invitational Tournament in Palatine, Illinois. From there, the Falcons will travel to the IIFA State Tournament in Peoria, Illinois, and finally the Phi Rho Pi National Tournament in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Individual results from the tournament are as follows.
Chanse Tullis (Springerton): 1st in Duo Interpretation (with Braden Cummins), 2nd in Prose Interpretation, 4th in Dramatic Interpretation
Kaydee Dycus (Mount Vernon): 1st in Persuasion, 3rd in Dramatic Interpretation, 5th in Communication Analysis
Braden Cummins (Carrier Mills): 1st in Duo Interpretation (with Chanse Tullis), 1st in Program Oral Interpretation
Jordan Fricks (Eldorado): 1st in Extemporaneous Speaking, 1st in Impromptu Speaking
Angelica Harrelson (Eldorado): 2nd in Communication Analysis, 3rd in Prose Interpretation, 5th in Persuasive Speaking
Donovyn Valdez (Carrier Mills): 3rd in Communication Analysis, 4th in Impromptu Speaking, 5th in Prose Interpretation
Cheriaca Huntley (Carrier Mills): 3rd in Poetry, 3rd in Speech to Entertain
