SIC Recognizes Milestone Service and Honors Retirees

Allan Kimball of Benton was recognized for outstanding achievement in assessment at SIC. Kimball was also the recipient of the Living the Mission award at SIC and will be retiring at the end of May after 21 years at SIC.
Susie Lampley from Harrisburg, was recognized for being chosen by her peers as the Loren P. and Velma Dallas Outstanding Teacher of the Year for 2018-19. Lampley will also be retiring after 12 years at SIC.
Present to be recognized for 15 years of service to SIC is Lindsey Pankey of Carrier Mills with SIC President, Dr. Jonah Rice.

SIC employees in their first year were recognized during a ceremony and luncheon at the college. Southeastern Illinois College held its annual Recognition Reception to honor employees for special awards, full-time milestone service, and retirements May 2 in the George T. Dennis Visual & Performing Arts Center lobby.  Paul Cummins, humanities co-chair and director of forensics, and Dr. Tyler Billman, advisor and forensics coach, acted as masters of ceremony for the event.

Greenies, or those who are in their first year of full-time employment at SIC include Travis Bond, learning commons paraprofessional; Sessaly Davis, nursing instructor; Erica Griffin, Director of Business Services; Jordan Hammersley, outfitters wildlife management instructor; Bethany Mathis, assistant director of financial aid; Devona Morales payroll/accounting clerk; Crystal Morse, child study center toddler teacher; Arla Murphy, business development specialist; Amanda Payne, administrative assistant to the executive dean of academic services; Adam Potts, assistant to the director of environmental services; Hanna Reed, curator and events assistant; Ricky Sauls, career and technical education and special projects coordinator; Kathy Volkening, secretary for nursing and allied health division; and Jessica Wright, chemistry instructor.

Those serving SIC in a full-time capacity for five years include Melody Bryant, communications and relations specialist; Angela Carter, accounts receivable clerk; Sara DeNeal, art instructor/coordinator; Dawn Pool, accountant; Kelsie Rodman, business instructor; Marzel Scates, assistant to the executive dean of administrative services.

In their 15th year with the college are Delores Droit, events facilitator and Lindsey Pankey, child study center assistant teacher.

Celebrating 20 years with SIC are Ralph Boots, diesel and powersports instructor, diesel tech coordinator, applied tech division co-chair; Marcey Martin, assistant to the director of the small business development center; Scott Reed, information technology instructor; Mark Thomas, welding instructor; and Dr. Karen Weiss, vice president of academic affairs.

Susie Lampley, associate degree nursing instructor was recognized formally for the Loren P. & Velma Dallas Outstanding Teacher of the Year for 2018-19.  Lampley will also be retiring this year after 12 years with SIC.

Allan Kimball, theatre director, instructor and humanities division co-chair is celebrating his retirement this year, as well, after 21 years with SIC. During the recognition, he was recognized for outstanding achievement in assessment. Kimball also received the newest award, the Living the Mission Award for demonstrating the spirit of SIC’s mission and vision.

“I’ve always said that programs aren’t buildings, programs are people,” said Dr. Jonah Rice, SIC President. “SIC has some truly phenomenal people who run exceptional programs.  Employee recognition is a great way to say thanks to those individuals who deserve to be noticed for their years of dedication and special awards.”
