SIC Archery Hosts Fifth Annual 3D Archery Invitational
Southeastern Illinois College Archery hosted their fifth annual SIC 3D Archery High School Invitational Friday, May 10. The tournament served as a try out for the collegiate archery team. Trophies were awarded to the top high school team by averaging the top three individual scores, while individual trophies were given to the top men’s shooter and the top women’s shooter.
The Carmi High School Team won the High School Invitational Team Trophy with the top scores from the team being Drake Barnett, Lane Whitley and Sara Harrell. The Hardin County High School Team placed second with top scores from the team being Adriana Armstrong, Wyatt Dutton and Kylie Mosby. The Hamilton County High School Team placed third with the top scores from the team being Zeke Scott, Deegan Gholson and Trenton Hopper.
The tournament attracted eight high schools, including Carmi, Carrier Mills, Hamilton County, Harrisburg, Hardin County, NCOE, West Frankfort and Vienna. In all, 23 contestants competed for honors in the open, bowhunter, recurve and traditional divisions.
“I really enjoy hosting this event. It is great to see the archery talent we have in the area and the high school students have fun at this event,” said SIC archery coach Alli Armstrong.
Jalyn Shoemaker of Vienna won the top women’s shooter trophy in the women’s bowhunter division. Second in the women’s division was Adriana Armstrong of Elizabethtown. Third in the women’s division was Sara Harrell of Carmi.
Drake Barnett of Carmi took home the top men’s shooter trophy in the men’s open division. Second in the men’s division was Kody Cavender of Harrisburg. Third in the men’s division was Wyatt Dutton of Rosiclare.
