SIC Revises Employee Schedule Following New IL Governor Mandates
Southeastern Illinois College has released an update on their modified schedule for faculty and staff next week.
College communications on the SIC web page www.sic.edu/coronavirus said that next week’s extended spring break for students will now hold office time for faculty and staff only on Monday, March 16, for a full day of work with the rest of the week conducted remotely. Classes will run remotely March 23 through April 3, as communicated earlier, with a regular schedule anticipated to begin April 6.
SIC President Dr. Jonah Rice said, “We knew this pandemic would be a fluid situation. Change is inevitable. That is why when Gov. Pritzker announced just earlier today new mandates against social gatherings, SIC made the decision to ground a modified schedule decision for faculty and staff.”
Faculty and staff will meet Monday for planning purposes and triage. The rest of the week’s work will be completed remotely. Only essential personnel carrying out vital functions will be allowed on campus and only with permission via respective cabinet supervisor.
Rice noted the exceptional work from his planning staff as well as other employees who have demonstrated great camaraderie and creative solutions for students.
“I appreciate the dedication and spirit displayed by so many here at SIC,” said Rice.
