Forensics Falcons Earn Bronze at Phi Rho Pi Nationals
The SIC Forensic Falcons ended a successful season in Reno April 6, earning bronze medals in both team and individual events and team overall sweepstakes. The Falcons also captured several individual medals in interpretation and public speaking.
“I am very proud of this team,” noted Director of Forensics Jenny Billman. “They worked hard all season.”
Billman’s fellow coaches, Rachel Parish and Paul Cummins, agreed. “I am proud of them and who they’ve become this year,” noted Cummins.
The 2024 national tournament marks the end of the Falcons’ 2023-24 season, which also included winning a state championship in the community college division. SIC’s Forensic Falcons have a long history of success, placing first in overall national competition in 1986, 2005, and 2021.

Braxtyn Baugher, Harrisburg – gold in prose interpretation, silver in speech to entertain, bronze in program oral interpretation, bronze in duo interpretation with partner Abby Zirkelbach, 5th in individual sweepstakes
Bradlee Thomas, Harrisburg – gold in dramatic interpretation, bronze in program oral interpretation, bronze in duo interpretation with partner Abby Zirkelbach
Brock Newman, Eldorado – silver in prose interpretation, bronze in informative speaking
Neva Wasson, Harrisburg – bronze in duo interpretation with partner Grant Dooley, bronze in prose interpretation, bronze in dramatic interpretation
Rachel Russell, Norris City – bronze in prose interpretation, bronze in dramatic interpretation
Abby Zirkelbach, Marion – Bronze in duo interpretation with partner Braxtyn Baugher, bronze in duo interpretation with partner Bradlee Thomas
Ethan Bordoy, Harrisburg – Bronze in persuasive speaking
Grant Dooley, Harrisburg – Bronze in duo interpretation with partner Neva Wasson
Also competing were Connor Fauset of Benton and Carter Wiseman of Galatia.
