SIC Falcon Archer Earns Academic All-American Team Award
The Southeastern Illinois College Falcon Archers are proud to announce that one of its standout archers, Allie Prentice, has been named to the USA Archery 2024 All-American Academic Team. Originally from Ortonville, Michigan, Allie now resides in Eldorado and has achieved this prestigious award due to her exceptional performance both on the archery range and in the classroom.
The USA Archery All-American Academic Team Award is a testament to collegiate athletes who excel as both archers and students. This esteemed award acknowledges not just excellence in archery but also the diligence and dedication required to manage a demanding practice and competition regimen while maintaining a rigorous academic schedule. The Collegiate Archery Program offers archers the opportunity to compete nationwide with peers who also maintain high academic standards.
According to the USA Archery site, to be eligible for the All-American Academic Team, archers must be full-time collegiate students eligible to shoot in the 2024 Spring Semester, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 through the fall term of 2023, and be ranked in the top 25% by score of each division and class from the U.S. National Indoor Championships.
SIC Head Coach Ricky Sauls expressed his pride and admiration for Allie’s accomplishments: “Allie is not only among the top 25% of college archers in her class in the country but has also been able to keep up with her schoolwork. I could not be more proud of Allie for the way she has represented herself and SIC. She is a very accomplished archer, a good student, and more importantly, an all-around great person.”
Prentice will return to SIC in the Fall for her second year of college archery and to continue her studies as a dual major in Criminal Justice and Wildlife Management.
