Online Creative Writing Class Offered for Spring
SIC is offering Introduction to Creative Writing (ENG 123) in Spring 2025 for the first time since 2021. Dr. Angie Mayfield, English professor and Distance Learning Specialist at SIC, will be teaching the course. She is an award-winning writer and journalist and author of four books, including Love, Loss & Lunacy in a Small Town, and a monthly columnist for Boomer and Mules and More magazines. She and her husband, Doug, own Mayfield Farms in Fairfield and Elizabethtown, Illinois.
The Introduction to Creative Writing class will be online, so students can join and write from the comfort of their home on their own schedule. There will also be optional group meetings over the semester via Zoom and at Southern Illinois landmarks to allow students to get to know one another, share their writing, and be inspired. Whether you’re a beginning writer or a published poet, a high school fan fiction lover or a retiree wanting to write your memoir, this course offers something for everyone.
The Introduction to Creative Writing (ENG 123) course begins Jan. 13 and ends May 15, and registration is open now. There are no college pre-requisites to take the class.
