SIC Nursing Program Ranked Third in State
Southeastern Illinois College’s Nursing Program has been ranked third in Illinois by RegisteredNursing.org, recognizing the program’s high first-time National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) pass rates, affordability, and commitment to preparing students for healthcare careers.
The ranking reflects the strong outcomes of SIC’s Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) and Practical Nursing (PN) programs. In 2024, the college saw a 100% NCLEX pass rate among PN students and a 95% rate among ADN students. This summer, ADN students achieved a 100% pass rate.
“We are proud of the reputation SIC nurses have earned for their skill and professionalism,” said Dr. Emily York, Director of Nursing and Allied Health at SIC. “This ranking is a reflection of the hard work of our faculty, staff, and students, and it shows that when employers hire an SIC graduate, they’re getting a quality nurse who is ready to step into the workforce.”
SIC President Dr. Karen Weiss praised the recognition as an important milestone for both the college and the region.
“Our communities rely on well-trained healthcare professionals, and SIC is committed to meeting that need,” Weiss said. “Being ranked third in the state demonstrates the dedication of our nursing faculty and the strength of our students. We couldn’t be prouder.”
In addition to its ADN and PN programs, SIC also offers a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) program and several allied health options. These include pharmacy technician, phlebotomy, and the newly added medical assistant program, which provide opportunities for students to enter healthcare quickly and address industry shortages.
