SIC NURSING PROGRAM RECEIVES INITIAL ACEN ACCREDITATION
The Southeastern Illinois College Associate Degree in Nursing program has been awarded initial accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). After a thorough review of the SIC Associate Degree in Nursing program, faculty and staff received high praise from evaluators for its many strengths, including consecutive licensure pass rates of 90% or higher. Evaluators noted that SIC’s pass rates in nursing remain a significant achievement. Accreditation by the ACEN is an extra seal of approval for SIC’s nursing program, which has always maintained high standards and exemplary student achievement. In order to achieve accreditation, a program must meet or exceed established standards through documentation and a peer-review process. The ACEN is recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
