SIC’s Pre-K Makes Valentines for Veterans

John Hanson, regional representative from Rep. John Shimkus’ office in Harrisburg dropped by to collect valentines for veterans from the children at Southeastern Illinois College’s Mary Jo Oldham Center for Child Study last week. The children made the valentines with help from area high school students interested in early childhood education during a special spotlight day held recently at the college. Hanson said the valentines will be delivered to the local soldiers and veterans. Rep. Shimkus’ office has been collecting valentines for injured soldiers since 2008.
