Kids Fair will be Rock’n
Juke boxes, records, bobby socks and poodle skirts will take over Southeastern Illinois College May 4, from 4-6 p.m. for this year’s Rock ‘N Roll Kids’ Fair.
This free event, made possible through a community partnership with Egyptian Health Department, Harrisburg Medical Center, WADI Head Start, and Harrisburg District Library, is for children ages 0-5th grade. Registration is in B/C lobby with games and information in Deaton Gym and B-hall.
Community vendors representing 25-30 public agencies, civic organizations and local businesses will provide fun activities, games and prizes for the children. There will be a life-sized Juke Box and a photo op area, and cameras or cell phones are encouraged. This fair is designed to help promote reading, education, health, nutrition and safety in a fun manner.
Free food will be served in the SIC Harry L. Crisp Student Center/cafeteria provided by WADI, Harrisburg Medical Center, Pepsi Mid-America and SIC. Also, a DJ will be playing dance music with an area for dancing in the cafeteria.
This year’s free program will be selections from the spring musical The Addams Family presented by the SIC Theater Department. The program will be held in lecture hall B-126.
Little Obie, a scale model of a real locomotive and caboose, will again thrill kids of all ages with rides around campus. Little Obie is sponsored by the Canadian National Railway. There is expected to be a fire truck, police car, classic cars and possibly an ambulance that the children can look inside and talk with the drivers.
This event is provided by the Community Education Department at Southeastern Illinois College. For more information call 252-5400 Ext. 3213.
