Forensic Falcons claim 7 individual championships at JV Nationals in Kansas

Southeastern Illinois College’s Forensic Falcons claimed seven individual championships at the 2015 JV National Tournament in Manhattan, Kansas, clinching the second place team title.
Twenty out of 23 SIC entries finished among the top six in their respective events.
SIC Sophomore Meredith Wolf earned special distinction as the tournament’s top overall speaker at the tournament after winning three events and finishing fifth in another.
“It feels great to be a national champion,” Wolf remarked. “It feels like being rewarded for all of my hard work.”
Tyler Billman, Assistant Director of Forensics, explained that the JV National Tournament presents a significant opportunity for the Falcons to compare their entries against entries from across the nation.
The Falcons travel again this weekend to the Phi Rho Pi regional tournament in Crystal Lake, Illinois in preparation for the Phi Rho Pi National Tournament in Cleveland, Ohio, April 6-11.
The team will perform some of their award-winning speeches for the public on April 2 at 7 p.m. in the George T. Dennis Visual & Performing Arts Center at SIC, as part of SIC’s annual “Night Before Nationals” event. Tickets are available for a $5 minimum donation and can be purchased in SIC’s VPAC lobby prior to the show. Proceeds will help with travel costs for the team’s national Phi Rho Pi tournament.
