Heart Association Fundraiser at Ponderosa
Southeastern Illinois College faculty and students will be “celebrity wait staff” serving food and drinks at Ponderosa in Harrisburg on Thursday, Oct. 1 from 5-7 p.m., to benefit the American Heart Association (AHA). In the spirit of friendly competition, the Diesel Technology program will be competing against the Nursing Program, to see who can raise the most money to donate.
SIC’s Diesel Technology instructors, Ralph Boots, Robbie Lindhorst and Chris Jones along with some students will be serving from 5-6 p.m. From 6-7 p.m. Nursing instructors, Amy Murphy, Susie Lampley, Brenda Knight and Sylvia Moore along with students will be serving.
Ten percent of proceeds and all tips made at Ponderosa from 5-7 p.m. will go to the AHA, courtesy of The Beat Goes On team at SIC. This activity, along with many other fundraising activities for a variety of teams at SIC continue to take place for the AHA Heartwalk, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3 at John A. Logan College. This is the fourth annual partnership with Ponderosa benefiting the AHA.
“Southeastern truly appreciates Don DeMario, general manager at Ponderosa for his generosity in partnering with us on this event each year for the American Heart Association,” said Barb Potter, team captain for The Beat Goes On team. “This will be an exciting evening of good food and fellowship, all for a great cause!”
