SIC Archery Team Signs a Union County Archer
Kaylee Willett of Union County signs her intent to compete with the Southeastern Illinois College Falcon Archers for the 2021-22 year.
Willett has been using a bow since seventh grade and competed with the Union County Archery Team for three years during high school.
She says, “I am happy to be going to SIC and looking forward to the next step in life.”
Union County High School archery coach, Laura Carr, said, “I have watched Kaylee progress through the past few years to shoot her all-time best at our state tournament this year. We are all proud of Kaylee.”
Willett plans to begin her pursuit of a degree in Mortuary Science while getting her general studies at SIC.
“I can’t wait to work with Kaylee and have her on the team. She has an enormous amount of enthusiasm and wants to learn as much as she can. I am happy to see the amount of support she has had at Union County and plan to continue that when she gets to SIC,” said SIC archery coach, Ricky Sauls.
Along with her participation on the UC Archery Team, Willett was also a part of the National Archery in the Schools Program, Drama Club, FFA, 4-H equestrian drill team, and soccer.
The SIC Archery Team started with a small group of students as a pilot program in 2011. Since that time, the Falcon Archers have won national awards against Division I universities, added an indoor facility and indoor team, and host high school tournaments. The team is a member of USA Archery and ASA Archery. For more information about SIC’s Archery team and facilities, visit www.sic.edu/archery or contact ricky.sauls@sic.edu or 618-252-5400, ext. 2248.
