At SIC, we meet students where they are — in life and in learning. Our welding classes are available in fully equipped welding labs on our Harrisburg campus and at the Stanford D. Williams Career & Training Center in Carmi.

All SIC welding instructors are AWS Certified Welders with real-world experience. Our curriculum is guided by an advisory team of welding industry representatives who help us stay current with the latest workforce needs, techniques, and equipment — so you’re prepared from day one on the job.

Start with a short-term certificate or go all-in on your two-year degree. Either way, you’ll build valuable skills that lead to employment.
Equipment Needed
Students enrolled in the Welding Technology program are required to supply the following welding equipment: helmet, goggles, clothing, shoes, gloves, and standard safety glasses. These items protect students from harmful rays, sparks, and hot metal fragments.

Program Learning Outcomes
Goal 1: By utilizing qualified faculty that work in local industry, and maintaining state of the art equipment and laboratory facilities and using a curriculum that is aligned with the technology that is currently used in today’s industry, we prepare our students to obtain meaningful employment as welding professionals that are locally and nationally recognized.
Goal 2: To prepare students that are sought after by competitive employers in heavy construction, fabrication, and repair within the welding industry.
Goal 3: To prepare students to pass the American Welding Society Welder Performance Qualification Test and become certified welders.
Goal 4: To prepare students to apply all welding principles and traits of professional work ethics in any work environment.
Goal 5: To prepare students to continue education as well as to grow and adapt to changes in the workplace.
